01 - The Rudest Awakening

A - Joji Yuki's Place - Closed

There was pursuit. An almost endless chase after a man in colorful clothes. That was the most important thing, to keep that man in his sights. He couldn't let him slip away, couldn't, but he felt a pulling, felt something dragging him back, away, into-

Moments after the red medal halves were fused together, the newly whole Core Medal began to clatter wildly on the workbench. There was life in this thing, along with some sort of unnatural magnetism. Loose bits of the same material that had forced the medal back together were being drawn in from the edges of the work bench, and other things resting on shelves and in drawers were rattling around and eager to get in on the excitement, too. As more and more pieces clung to the core, a shape began to take form... and then with a flash of red light, the entire mess solidified into an inhuman, red-armored hand and forearm. It twitched, its fingers curled, and then it let out a ragged, human-sounding gasp.

"...what the heck?!"

B - Generally Out and About in Venture City, Early Evening - Open

Ankh might not have been able to remember much, but he knew things. He knew what he was, knew what he ought to be able to do, and knew that he was missing entirely too much of himself. He wouldn't find any of it just hovering around inside that damned scientist's workshop. He'd have to go and find it himself.

Which is why there is a disembodied armored hand and forearm floating around, looking about as curious as a hand can manage to be. He's peering over shoulders to read newspapers, rifling around in unattended bags, and sizing up passers-by for their potential usefulness. If they haven't got some sort of strong desire, well... maybe he can smack them upside the head, latch onto their arm, and siphon some knowledge out of their head. His English skills aren't what they really should be, given that he's now in the United States. If he can't complete himself with more Cell Medals, then he can fill up on knowledge instead. He'll take anything. He'll take it all.

"Kamen Riders. Those few who have the strength of monsters but use it to protect humans."

Hmm, so being broken had harmed the memories of the core? Fascinating. Joji reached up on the shelf and extracted a small colorful coin from the pile of junk an held it out.

"One wrong movement and the Core would have been fine dust. I did what I could to restore the cracks, but I think you will need some more of these, correct?"

"Tch, manners."

He might not be a Rider, but Joji was still fast. He tossed the coin into the air, letting Ankh go after it in exchange for grabbing at the Greeed with his artificial arm. Most would consider that kind of move unwise, but he was sure that the energy in his arm was more than enough to counterattack an attack from Ankh - if he could attack in his current state.

"I am checking your energy, Greeed."

At least, that is what he was trying to do. He could feel the energy build up and it seemed the ;coin' was absorbed. So they were a kind of piece of them and that in turn meant that the amount of 'coins' he was picking up meant there was someone out there that can make them. But how and why?

He really really was wishing he did more than just grabbed the plans for dimension hopping. It would make working with this planet a lot less irritating for one.

He could try, but as the energy attempted to latch on to Joji, it was repulsed by another energy. Green cracks appeared on the surface of his arm, radiating out from where the initial site of attack all the way up to the joint. His fingers twitched and the mechanics made a loud crackling sound as the natural energies fought off the attack.

Joji let go of Ankh and hissed at the pain it caused him, eyes narrowed at the Greeed. Well. He was going to have to figure out what a Greeed was capable of.

"Then don't try to attach yourself to me."

He wasn't sure exactly what had happened, but he wasn't going to say that outloud. Joji knew that his fake arm had a few surprises to it as well as the ability to repeal energy attacks. Maybe it was part of that at work, but he didn't want say it was only his one arm doing it. That would just open him to attack on the other side.

"Behave and I will see about getting you a form and strength."

"Me? I get the amusement of watching a few individuals argue among themselves about you're existence."

He knew that Ankh should be gone considering how much damage his Medal had. He also knew that someone must have saved the Medal for a specific reason. He wasn't sure what that reason was, but it would prove interesting to find out, but in order to find out, he would need to draw that person out.

Hence restoring the Greeed to life.

"I am a scientist; most unusual forms of life are a curiosity."

Maybe he figured that Ankh would stick around a little longer. Or maybe he felt that if the Greeed wished to see the rest of the city, then he was more than welcome to do so as long as he came back to the converted warehouse. Whatever the case, the shielded doors were opened, letting in light and air from the more livable section of the building. The workshop side was rough and filled with all sorts of nits and pieces by the other side was a very airy and livable space with wide open doorways.
