Gwen easily sneaked in through the window and changed cloths into her normal 'Gwen Tennyson' attire. Her mom had told her that she had to be home early because they wanted to have some friends over for dinner. When she came down the stairs and was greeted by her aunt and uncle she could have almost dropped her face in her hands. After the encounter with Ben she was sure the last place he wanted to be was in her house. She looked around reflexively. Where was he anyway?

"Come on, Gwen. You know you want more of my mom's casserole."

"Not your mom's casserole."

[omnitrixter]

"What about my casserole?" Sandra called up the stairs, hearing the cousins approaching.

"Nothing, Mom!" Ben lied pitifully.

That only made Gwen laugh. It had been too long since she'd been around her family. "I really missed you guys."

"We missed you, too," Sandra told her niece.

Even if he had always been jealous of his cousin, Ben had missed Gwen. Not having to share his birthday had felt weird last year. At least there had always been one person he'd spend time with on his birthday with her.

"Thanks Aunt Sandra." She smiles at her aunt as they come into the living room. "Though next time I think Ben should come with. Maybe it would motivate him to study harder."

Ben brightened at that idea. Still, he was a local hero now. He couldn't just run off, could he? Not that that was what Gwen had done...

Ugh. He really needed to talk with his cousin about this stuff.

"You really want me sitting next to you in class, Gwen?" Ben teased.

She snorts. "As if you'd get that far, but you could take some remedial classes. Maybe summer school or something."

Ben opened his mouth, but no comeback came to him. "Okay, yeah, I might need some ice for that burn."

Sandra chuckled at the back-and-forth. "Y'know, I almost missed you two going at it. Come on. I brought my world famous casserole."
