What a time to visit this city! Something was afoot, that much was obvious. Lots of activity, lots of confused people. And that omegacracker she had obtained in the shadier parts of Little Tokyo had given her all sorts of interesting hints about the current situation.

Someone had pulled a spectacular heist! Truly impressive, it made her curious indeed. As such, she had to investigate a little. Right at the source, of course: The statue that had originally been considered the target.

As there would likely be a considerable presence of supers, Himiko didn't even bother to disguise herself, and walked up to the statues in the middle of the night, tails and ears, black eyes and dress visible to all that'd look. But then, this was her costume, in a way, since her mundane look was when she was disguised!

Let's see if someone would try to stop her. Or help, perhaps! Regardless which, it'd be a good way to gauge the people of this place. And maybe get a bit of a hint on what was going on, if she would be able to take a closer look at that orb... Oh, she very much wanted to examine it from all sorts of angles!

Hello, people of Venture city reading this thread! I'm a fairly new citizen, living in a humble abode in Little Tokyo. Where'd one go to find some excitement in this city? Any of you got a recommendation or two for a newcomer?

And walking along side her was a young(?) woman in a black cloak. The duo certainly didn't look suspicious at all, right?

"You want me to grab it?" she mumbled, low enough that only her companion could hear, "Knowing my luck, it'll probably just obliterate me or something because I'm not using the right thing..."

"I'd think that if it could be moved, someone would have done so already. And I wouldn't want you to come to harm unduly, either~" Himiko's voice was as low, and she shook her head.

There clearly were no suspicious people here, at all.

"Hey, it's not like it'll stick if something does happen..."

She looked at the orb for a bit-

Which, unfortunately, prompted her narrator to speak, "The orb appears to be, for all intents and purposes, inert."

Doomkitty ignored the voice, "Maybe nobody's even tried yet?"

"Still, still, it might get sticky enough..."

Himiko glanced at the thing. It sure caused some chaos, that little thing. But then, artifacts were often deceptive, appearing far more harmless than they were (not to mention the possibility that this wasn't even regularly magical, but of the technologimagical kind the humans had come up with).

"That I doubt, but of course one never knows... I wonder what should be tried first..."

She had ideas, plenty of ideas. ...Half of which were just to satisfy her curiosity and didn't have a practical purpose. Like, for example, if it could be scratched, or what kind of noise it'd make when hit by rocks or metal. And then there were the magical properties that might be even more interesting...

"I could climb the statue easily enough. Got a few smoke-bombs if people try to stop me..."

"My, well, if you insist, who'd I be to reject your offer? Let's see what clues your noble sacrifice brings us."

Well, assuming the orb even did anything.

She took a look around.

And her narrator chimed in, "There's quite the crowd here, all murmuring amongst themselves and likely talking about what had just happened recently."

Doomkitty let out a sigh, "I'm not sure I have enough tricks to get through everybody that'd want to stop me, though..."

After a pause, she shrugged, "Well, what the heck. I can just load if things go bad."

[fluffytails]

"It's a shame I can't just cover it all with darkness, that be too obvious. Ah, maybe a more general distraction would give you the time you needed? Hmm..."

Himiko pondered on that.

"Well, I won't complain about any help. I'll probably need it."

[fluffytails]

"Ah, I suppose I shall sacrifice the satisfaction of appearing my curiosity to aid you in this particular endeavor."

Himiko looked towards the crowd. "Say, how long would you need?"

"A minute, tops. I can climb the statue in a second. The hard part will be getting out of there, I think."

Little Tokyo? Oh, I imagine there must be all sorts of things there to do. I hear it has the most sushi-restaurants per capita in the United States.

They have some excellent tofu as well, surprisingly. Wouldn't have guessed the quality being this excellent over here.

Tofu, you say? Well, it's not my personal dish of choice, but I imagine that if you say so, it must be good.

I take it you are Japanese yourself then? Is this your first time in America?

That is so, I haven't been to this country before. It's quite the change of pace, I must say! You've got all kinds of different people here, all so varied and colorful.

Especially in this city, it appears. Those strange costumes I've seen people wear are quite something.

Aren't there magical girls and such in Japan as well as here? I'm sure I've seen such things on the news. You must have lead a very sheltered life.

Very true, very true indeed. I've lived the last years in a very sheltered way, it's nice to have a bit of freedom here.

Oh, yes, it's overwhelming in more ways than one, but one has to make do, one really has, no?

I suppose one does. Moping around an apartment for months is rather...pathetic.

Oh, not necessarily. It COULD have a legitimate reason, I can even think of a few.

I suppose, but one really ought to have someone around to jerk you from such complacency if you're thinking of just locking yourself indoors with the internet.

Truly, that could be helpful. I've known a number of rather secluded individuals that really would have benefitted from such a person!
