002 [Omega Network]
Late at night on the 30th, there comes a strange post on the Omega Network. The post is made with the account of a super known as Gorgon. What's strange about that is the fact that this particular super has been missing in action for well over a year. So. What's the deal?
If you look closely, the video playing is very jaunty, but it catches the glimpse of a very frustrated looking Tomoki, who has been missing for a few days, himself. He appears to be tied to a ...recliner. The video finally focuses on Doctor Maki and his sinister doll.
Maki doesn't seem to notice that his "guest" is recording anything. It would probably help if he weren't looking at the creepy little doll perched on his arm while he was talking. "I trust you're comfortable, Mr. Chino? Not that it'll be much of a concern of yours for long..." There's no mistaking the smug, villainous self-satisfaction in Maki's voice. Good job, Tomoki, you've got him monologuing.
"It's very simple, you see. This world is deteriorating day by day. With each passing minute, it becomes corrupted. Less pure. Soon, it will cease to be beautiful. The world must be preserved, Mr. Chino. It must be judged." This is all said in Maki's even, normal speaking tone, but he's starting to pace slightly. This is getting him worked up.
"It is impossible to judge anything until it has ended. For without an ending, things can still change. They can become impure. Inferior. If the world is not destroyed now, while it can still be judged as good, then how will it be remembered? It cannot be judged as a good world until it is destroyed--and I seem to be the only one willing to step forward and do that. The world must be destroyed. It is inevitable." Maki does not seem at all bothered by this assertion. "Mr. Hino got lucky and foiled my last attempt. I assure you, Mr. Chino, that this will not happen again. I've prepared. I've grown stronger. And now, nothing can stop me."
Tomoki barks a humorless laugh.
"Wow. 'Mr. Hino's got some explaining to do but that doesn't matter right now. Doctor Maki, was it? That was a pretty impressive evil speil, even by Venture City standards. Do you really have the bite to back it up? I mean, villains are kind of a dime-a-dozen in this place."
"I assure you, I have more than enough bite to back it up." Maki's eyes flash an unsettling shade of purple. And if anyone is paying attention to the creepy little doll on Maki's arm, its eyes just flashed purple, too. Maybe it's just a reflection of the light in Maki's eyes? "I won't be stopped again."
There's a pause. Come on, Tomoki. You've gotta think fast or you're as good as dead. Especially if he figures out you have a watch recording all of this. "And what exactly are you going to do with me? I'm not really in the way of your plans. Was it really necessary to tie me to a recliner in some abandoned laboratory?"
Hey, Tomoki, don't be hating on the stolen La-Z-Boy. It might be a floor model some Waste Yummies yanked off the showroom floor once Maki realized he had no actual setup in his black hole void laboratory in which to hold prisoners, but it beats several other options. "I don't know what your relationship is with Mr. Hino, but I am taking no chances. A resemblance like that does not happen by simple coincidence." The doll's pose has shifted so that its hands are now on its hips. It is sassing Tomoki.
Wow, that doll needs to get out of here with that. He tries not to let that ruffle him. Stupid doll. "Great, so basically you're going to off me and dump me in a river or something, right? What is this, the docks? Where are we, anyway?"
"Don't be ridiculous. We're in the void." A couple of Waste Yummies lumber forward to turn Tomoki's recliner around to face the gigantic window showing off what's outside of Maki's laboratory. It's...nothing. Just a void. It's not even an interesting void, it's just there. All empty and void-y. "I assure you, there is no chance of rescue here."
There's the sound of a low whistle. Probably the first hint that Tomoki is really nervous. "Well. You're definitely thorough. I guess we'll just have to see." And that will be the point where Tomoki shuts off the watch and hopefully puts it away before Maki realizes he had it out and was recording it this whole time.
His goose is cooked unless someone can get to him.
[OOC: this is a small plot and most of the people rescuing him have already been established! However, anyone is free to comment, especially people who might know him or knew his missing fiance. If you want to get in on the plot anyway, then shoot me a PM and we can try to work something out! Otherwise this is mostly The Hino family, Rei, and Aya's game.]

[He's frowning at the Omega Watch in his hands that he doesn't realize is his, whenever Eiji gets to the door.]
no subject
Seems like he's really gotten himself in a mess this time.
no subject
You're going after him, I take it?
no subject
Because Tomoki is your brother?
no subject
If it's all right with you, I'd like to come along.
no subject
I don't see you hesitating! Danger is my game, brat.
[He then swipes a hand backward through his hair and shakes his head.]
...sorry. Jin likes to fight. We'll be fine.

[Rei smiles a little, nodding.]
Tomoki is my friend. It wouldn't be right of me to not help.
[Action]
So they thought getting Maki some furniture to match the recliner they stole for him to tie Tomoki to would be a good idea.]

She's pretty sure that she's not visible to the monster, but that might not be the case from other directions...]

[There's a Japanese girl behind her, dressed in a Shinto shrine maiden's regalia, stick with the braided paper and all, plus a red domino mask to hide her identity.]
Be careful. Those things are a kind of monster.
no subject
I know it's a monster! That's why I'm following it. It's up to something.
no subject
[If she got one it would probably distract the other once it wasn't holding the other end of the couch.]

... all right.

...You didn't bring an elite group of cool backup heroes along, did you?
possibly this would be a good time for rei and eiji to show up?
... no. No, I didn't. As far as I know, there aren't any Shinto priests or other miko in Venture City. It's just me.
no subject
Finally! I was wondering when we were gonna get to hit things!

What did Eiji just do? Because that was definitely Eiji, unmistakably Eiji, and he'd just done some weird transformation with a weird belt like he was one of those masked rider you'd hear about from time to time.
She forgets to use English as she runs up to him.]
Evil spirit, begone!
[She slaps an ofuda onto the Yummy Eiji just punched.]
Eiji, what are you doing?

[Though the song was sort of entertaining, and he made a mental note to ask about it when the angry miko girl wasn't interrogating him. In the meantime, he let Jin continue to beat up Trash Yummies, which was starting to feel the slightest bit redundant, since every time he knocked one down they got back up within a few minutes.]

[These are the important questions.]
