"O-oh, hello!" He yelps in surprise. He reaches out a hand to cautiously pet the creature.
He turns to look up at the Kid, though his vision is still adjusting to the light of the room. There's something muddy and unfocused about him in Simon's eyes.
"I don't have any questions, not yet.. But I would like to look at these artifacts of yours, first!"
He brushes past the Squirt, patting it lightly on the head. He spends plenty of time ghosting around the workshop, giving each object a proper look before moving on to the next. He has the sense to never touch anything, though he does move around a few of the pieces to get a better view. He can understand the purposes and meanings behind some of them, despite not being able to read the language. The armor, weapons, even the shrine to Pyth... He can use his knowledge of various cultures to make educated guesses, but there's still a gaping hole. Something keeps these objects from looking exactly like anything he's seen before, but he can trust their authenticity.
"I must admit, I was a little skeptical about where you said you'd come from! I sometimes forget that not everyone in Venture City is from Earth, like aliens and-" Simon is cut off in mid-ramble as he turns to look over at the Kid.
His face pales to an icy blue, almost like he's seen a ghost.
And really he has, though not in a traditional way. The Kid is surrounded by a cloud of ashes that seem to be breaking off of him, disintegrating into the air rather than coating the floor. In the billows he can sometimes make out the shapes of faces, figures, and animals that break apart into nothing. Simon had nearly forgotten that Caeldonia didn't really exist anymore, and that this small collection contained the last remnants of The Kid's home.
He takes off his glasses and wipes at his face. The ashes are making his eyes burn.
"I- I'm sorry for your loss. That must have been rough.", he mutters.
