Okay, since Wild Tiger and Grand Papillion already know - might as well tell everyone to avoid any further confusion. I'm Kresnik, and the cloak I'm wearing, and the Night Stone I carried used to belong to The Night King, I'm a distant relation to him, but I have zero intentions of carrying on his legacy.

[Soma always did stand out as a civilian, it's summer but he's wearing a very light-weight long-sleeved shirt, and smelling faintly of coconut due prescription-strength sunscreen. He's going from various stores - stopping at a record shop that was going out of business. The place was getting picked over by bargain hunters - one of whom shoved Soma aside, knocking him over and scattering his bags]

You mean they don't know about the whole Kresnik thing?

Ahh, they'd be the more, er, traditional sort of vampire, would they? There's a couple of those on my side of the family too.

[He stares in disbelief]

What? No. They're not vampires either! We're humans!

Though... I suppose we might have some... vampire blood if the Night King is our ancestor.

[Now he wonders if they'red related on his mother's or his father's side]

Well then... I'm no expert on genetics, but it stands to reason that you've got to be part vampire! Humans and magical creatures fall in love with each other all the time, so someone like you was bound to show up one of these days.

[ Just how much of the kid is human, anyway? If both of his parents are... ]

...One of them could be half, maybe. Or maybe one of your grandparents... How many greats did you say were in that great-great something grandpa?

I suppose that's true, but I don't really consider myself part vampire, you know?

So if he's my grandfather, that would make us third cousins, and then around however many times removed...

[ Papillon knowing all of this would be more impressive if he weren't hastily looking it up on the internet right this second. ]

[Soma blinks, raising a finger up as he opens his mouth to say something but thought better of it. So they're related too? Hoo boy]

Cousins - never expect to have relatives coming out of the woodwork.

I, for one, never expected to run into family all the way out here! Most of mine are still snoozing away in their coffins back in Romania!

[ ...Probably. Man, it's been ages since he's been in touch with them, for all he knows they've all hopped out of the crypts and turned the castle into the world's spookiest B&B. ]
